This course introduces learners to the essential skills and knowledge required for the safe and efficient operation of lift trucks. Participants will learn to apply recognised methods for inspecting and recording the operational fitness of lift truck components, with a strong focus on workplace safety procedures. The course covers the identification and classification of freight, including documentation, packaging, and labelling, as well as the handling, loading, and storage of freight in line with industry standards and environmental considerations. Learners will also gain a deep understanding of maximising the performance of lifting equipment by applying knowledge of equipment dimensions, controls, and principles of operation. Operating equipment in accordance with organisational, legislative, and manufacturer guidelines, as well as accessing emergency support systems in the event of accidents or incidents, are key components of this course.
